We can cut the outside profile of many shapes, including circles and triangular greenhouse panes, provided we have the correct dimensions and shape.
Clean-cut or arrissed edges
Glass can be supplied with a clean-cut edge or we can arris the edge to take away the sharpness. Decorative polished edges are ordered in.
Sheets up to 2140 × 1220mm
The maximum stock sheet size we cut from is 2140 × 1220mm. Available finished sizes depend on the glass type and shape required.
No internal holes or cut-outs in-house
We cut the overall outside shape of the glass. We do not cut holes or internal shapes in the centre of a piece of glass in our workshop.
Bring your own float glass
Customers can bring their own float glass into the workshop and, where suitable, we can cut it for a small cutting fee.
Specialist processing ordered in
Most in-house cut-to-size work is float glass. Toughened glass and polished-edge glass require specialist processing, so these are ordered to your required specification rather than produced in-house.

The safety glass we stock includes 6.4mm laminated glass and Georgian wire. Toughened glass is ordered to the required size because it needs specialist processing.
How long does glass cutting take?
Andrews Glass normally advises a 24–48 hour turnaround for workshop glass cutting because our glaziers spend much of their working day fitting glass at homes, schools, colleges and other sites. We will confirm the expected turnaround when you enquire.
Do you stock standard greenhouse glass sizes?
Yes. Andrews Glass stocks 3mm greenhouse glass in standard 610 × 610mm and 610 × 457mm sizes. These standard panes are ready to pick up from our Sawbridgeworth workshop as soon as you visit. If you need another size or a suitable angled or triangular outside shape, we can cut it to your measurements.
Can you cut and fit glass on the same day?
Sometimes. Andrews Glass can cut and fit glass on site the same day when we have the correct information, a suitable glass type in stock and a glazier available. Same-day service cannot be guaranteed, so contact us first with the measurements and details of the job.
Can I bring my own glass in for you to cut?
Yes. Customers can bring their own float glass to our Sawbridgeworth workshop and, where it is suitable for cutting, Andrews Glass can cut it for a small fee.
Can you cut circles and other shapes?
Yes. Andrews Glass can cut the outside profile of many shapes, including circles and triangular greenhouse panes, as long as we have the correct dimensions and shape. We cannot cut holes or internal shapes in the centre of a piece of glass in-house.

No. Most of our in-house cut-to-size work is float glass. Toughened glass requires specialist processing, so Andrews Glass orders it to the required dimensions and specification when a job needs it. For safety-glass requirements, we also stock 6.4mm laminated glass and Georgian wire.
What edge finishes do you offer?
Andrews Glass can supply glass with a clean-cut edge or arris the edge to remove the sharpness. Polished decorative edges require specialist machinery, so polished-edge glass is ordered in to the required specification.

Can you replace the glass in an old picture frame?
Yes. Andrews Glass regularly replaces broken glass or mirror in picture frames. Customers can bring the frame into our Sawbridgeworth workshop, which is particularly useful when the frame has sentimental value and you want to keep it rather than replace it.
Do you offer supply-only glass cutting as well as fitting?
Yes. Andrews Glass offers both supply-only and supply-and-fit glass services. You can collect cut glass from our Sawbridgeworth workshop, or ask us about fitting where the job requires a glazier on site.
Is cut float glass guaranteed against breakage?
No. Standard float glass is fragile and can break if it is dropped or handled incorrectly, so Andrews Glass does not provide a warranty against subsequent breakage of cut float glass.
